No Room
Some more Christmas thoughts from Chris Peters, with a few additional thoughts from myself.
Two simple words. Almost a footnote about the Bethlehem hotel industry.
Luke 2:7 “…there was no room for them at the lodging place.” HSCB
When Jesus came, it looked like there was no room
…In the Inn
…In the Jewish Leaders
…In the Roman Empire
…In Judea
…In Israel
…In History
…for the Messiah
…for the King of Kings
…for Him to sleep
…for His Kingdom
…in society
Today it feels like there is no room for Jesus
…in our society
…in our laws
…in our justice
…in our day to day life
…in our hearts from time to time
…in our Christmas busyness
We can try to fault the innkeeper or the residents for not making space
We can say that Jesus deserved a space that was not full of straw and animals
But if the Lord eternal decided to enter our world in the shadows of a cave
Far from the comforts he could have had
Then there could not be a more perfect place
In the same way, we act as though, because our lives are filled with shadows and grime
We can’t be right for Him
But if the Son of God can be born in a stable
If the glory of God can descend upon a Shepherd’s hill
Then He can surely come to you
So this Christmas
Will you make room for Jesus?
